As the leader in delivering best-in-class spinning reel performance to anglers of all levels, Okuma Fishing Tackle’s all-new Raw II saltwater spinning reels once again raise the bar. Constructed from a proprietary, highly corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy and featuring Okuma’s Dual Force Drag system with a completely carbon fiber drag stack, Raw II spinning reels take on both the toughest species and harshest environments.
Traditional aluminum alloys rely upon their anodizing to protect them from the corrosive properties of saltwater. Much of the effort in the industry has been placed upon furthering the resistance of the coatings to salt, rather than focusing on the weaknesses of the base material. Raw II spinning reels showcase the release of Okuma’s proprietary T480 aluminum alloy. A completely new, completely unique aluminum alloy, non-anodized T480 shows zero structural damage after 480 hours of continuous saturated salt spray, a timeline on which standard aluminums reach the point of catastrophic failure. Further protected by an anodized base layer, a painted surface layer and the Okuma Corrosion Resistant Coating process, Raw II spinning reels deliver a lifespan many times longer than traditional aluminum, providing avid anglers an aluminum frame and all-aluminum rotor system that will last a lifetime.
